Katie and Connor married at Wroxhall Abbey in Warwickshire, a beautiful 12th Century country house with adjoining abbey set in 27 acres of unspoilt parkland and gardens.
The venue was chosen as it is close to Connor’s family home, whilst also providing luxury lodgings for all of the guests including Katie’s US family and friends.
The colour scheme for the wedding was midnight blue and white and they wanted this to run throughout their elegant and quintessentially English wedding.
Bride Katie wore a beautiful Rosa Clara dress and her bridesmaids were in midnight blue Dessy dresses which were complemented by the usher’s ties in a matching shade.
The ceremony took place in the Abbey on site and it was a beautiful and romantic affair. Hurricane vases and rose petals lined the aisle and the whole ceremony took place by the light of candles which created a dreamy atmosphere.
Katie walked down the aisle on the arm of her father and after her and Connor said ‘I do’ the whole congregation was invited to sing the couple’s favourite song, ‘Wonderwall’ accompanied by their friend on guitar. It signalled a great end to the ceremony!
During the drinks reception, Katie and Connor and their wedding party had photos taken by Yvonne Lishman whilst guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the lawn and terrace.
The couple wanted to incorporate some formalities and traditions into their day and so opted to have a receiving line so they could spend some time with each individual guest, many of whom had travelled a long distance to join in their celebrations.
The wedding breakfast took place in Wroxall Abbey’s grand dining room and as guests entered they were greeted by tall baby’s breath floral displays on each table and lots of smaller rose arrangements on the surround. The tables looked really elegant thanks to Chantal Flores and her team.
Following dinner, a Ceilidh took place on the terrace which proved to be a huge amount of fun for all the guests. Katie even changed into another dress for the evening celebrations so that she could really party.
As a big surprise to guests, once the clock struck 10pm, the bride and groom invited everyone to join them in the secret garden. Here they were led down a series of paths, lit by lanterns, to a secret marquee which had been transformed into a nightclub complete with VIP section.
Guests danced and enjoyed music by a number of DJs right into the early hours when the last of the revellers made their way back to the hotel for a nightcap.
We worked with Katie and Connor on a tailored planning service, helping them source a number of suppliers and designing the overall style of the wedding day.
