Emily and Brandon invited me to meet with them at Emily’s family home in the small village of Danbury in Essex. As soon as I drove through the gates and onto the drive, I hoped that they would be marrying right there…the location was perfect.
The stunning house is located next door to the village church, with a beautiful green in front and ample parking…a wedding planner’s dream! Not only that, but once inside and looking out onto the gardens, the space and the view – wow! They provided the perfect backdrop to plan a beautiful Essex wedding.
Luckily for me, this is exactly what they wanted!
Being young and creative they didn’t want their wedding to feel stuffy and wanted to incorporate lots of personal touches all whilst creating a rustic, natural and whimsical feel.
Guy Collier was their chosen photographer and he has captured the day perfectly – Emily and Brandon look so happy and relaxed.
The wedding ceremony took place at the church next door to the house and it was beautifully decorated with florals by Lily & May, including a lovely floral arch, which created a great focal point for guests on arrival.
Emily wore a stunning dress which she found at The Bespoke Wardrobe whilst her bridesmaids were in sea foam silk dresses from Ghost. Brandon always knew he didn’t want to wear a suit and instead he looked to the high street where he mix and matched items from Burton and M&S to create a stylish casual ensemble which really reflected the overall vibe of the wedding day.
Following the ceremony, guests walked the short distance back to the reception venue where they were greeted by the staff from Kalm Kitchen who were on hand with drinks and beautifully displayed canapés in bird cages and other vintage styled boxes which worked perfectly with the theme.
The garden was styled as a rustic reception complete with vintage drinks dresser, a tin bath full of ice and cold beers, and garden furniture. In the background, The Blind Tigers – a New Orleans style jazz trio – entertained guests.
To complement the rustic, laid-back style, Emily and Brandon opted for tipis from The Stunning Tents Company in place of a traditional marquee. Providing a blank canvas for styling, the tipis were split into distinct sections with one area dedicated to dining, another for dancing and the final area for drinking.
As guests walked into the tipi, they were met with a beautifully styled space with lots of personal touches. The naked cake was lovingly handmade by Yum Nums and created a great focal point on top of vintage crates.
The guest book table was a selection of old vinyls on top of a vintage dresser, complete with vintage typewriter, and all of the blackboards around the venue were handmade by Brandon the day before the wedding.
The tables were characterised by mis-matched wooden chairs, white linens and striking blue water glasses which fitted perfectly with the overall styling and design of the day.
As the evening celebrations started, Lucy from Wedding Smashers took to the decks and turned an amazing wedding day into a great party in the evening, playing a mixture of old and new.
We worked with Emily and Brandon to plan every element of their Essex wedding, advising them on all aspects of the day from suppliers and styling through to managing the tipi build and the overall coordination of the wedding day.
