Neelam and Ben married on a balmy February day at Pembroke Chapel in Cambridge, in the grounds of their former College where they met whilst studying.
Owing to busy careers and living 3,500 miles apart (Neelam in London and Ben in New York) wedding planning was tricky. Add to this the fact that they had less than two months to plan their big day and its no wonder they wanted a professional wedding planner on board to help co-ordinate and manage the wedding and suppliers.
The wedding was a quintessentially English affair, incorporating traditional afternoon tea, a classic Peggy Porschen cake, a bespoke Jasper Conran gown, and perhaps, most notably, flowers…lots and lots of flowers.
The team at Chantal Flores were briefed to create something simple, eye-catching and modern and so they took inspiration from renowned US florist, Jeff Leatham and created two abundant displays in the Chapel that were reminiscent of works of contemporary art.
The rest of the wedding styling was purposely kept very simple. The grounds created a natural backdrop for photography and the Old Library played host to afternoon tea, served up on traditional tiered cake stands with tea in vintage china cups and saucers, all catered by the in-house catering team.
It was intimate, classic and understated, with an air of luxury – exactly what the couple had hoped to achieve.
As the light began to fade outside, the bride and groom headed off in their Bentley Flying Spur, champagne in hand, to enjoy the journey back to London where they enjoyed a more formal sit-down dinner with friends and family before partying the night away at Annabel’s.
