Today we are focusing on all things Halloween in the Just Bespoke office as we look back on a special dinner party we organised for a private client last weekend.
The brief was to create an intimate tablescape for the dinner, which was to be enjoyed by a small group of friends and family. We put our heads together and created an elegant and modern Halloween-inspired table in shades of grey and cream – not a cobweb or plastic spider in sight!
Our Top Tips for elegant Halloween styling
Choose your colour palette
Select a colour scheme and commit to it. This will ensure that everything ties together. Be brave and try something different and don’t make the mistake of incorporating too many different colours. Instead focus on a core colour and combine a maximum of three others in a similar tone. We loved the greys and silver used for this dinner party. It was complemented perfectly with the Halloween inspired black crockery and cutlery.
Keep it Simple
Select an area which you want to act as the focal point for your guests and then create a few miniature displays from the entrance of your home to complement the main feature piece. We created displays using the same vases and candles being used on the dining table on entrance tables as well as creating a pumpkin display in the fireplace to tie everything together.
Consider your tablescape
Incorporate texture, height and light to create interest on the table. For the elegant tablescape we placed natural White Pumpkins alongside carbon grey and metallic silver pumpkins on a dark grey table runner. The pumpkins were sprayed using traditional spray paint and then coated in lustre spray to add a subtle sparkle. Using pumpkins gave us the seasonal feel but by changing their natural colour it switched things up and gave the table a modern look to fit our client’s brief.
Halloween is all about the atmosphere that you create. It doesn’t have to be spooky – moody also works very well and candles are a fantastic way to create this sultry ambience. To fill the spaces between the pumpkins, we placed candles of varying heights and shades of grey in between. Eucalyptus was entwined between the pumpkins and a few sprigs placed in beautiful grey glass vases. The candle light and vases created the glam look whilst the eucalyptus really softened the design to add elegance.
