The UKAWP Wedding Sanctuary – a wedding fair with a difference…

The Wedding Sanctuary 2013 – organsied by the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners

Following news of the cancellation of the Designer Wedding Show (and its subsequent revival), there has been much debate in the industry in recent weeks regarding the future of the traditional wedding fair and the emergence of more intimate and bespoke approaches to helping Brides and Grooms plan their Wedding day. One event which we think should be top of every engaged couple’s list is The Wedding Sanctuary – an innovative wedding show designed to offer top design inspiration, personal style advice and the best one on one planning support available. The event is organised by the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners, of which we are members, and involves many of the leading names in the wedding industry, from florists through to photographers, to ensure that every part of the wedding day is covered.

The Wedding Sanctuary

This year’s event is taking place on Sunday 3rd March, at RSA House in Central London and is being supported by You & Your Wedding Magazine. On the day, there will be both a morning and an afternoon session with tickets costing from as little as £10 per person – and there are also ticket deals available including subscriptions to Y&YW magazine so you can get even more inspiration after the event!

So, what can you expect from The Wedding Sanctuary? Well, there will be the opportunity for you to talk to some of the experts in the wedding industry such as photographers Julia Boggio Studios, florist Mary Jane Vaughan and videographers The Dreamcatchers who will all be paired with a wedding planner to provide top tips, advice and answer your questions. Staggered will also be there to chat to grooms and provide help with suits, stag dos and speeches in a dedicated Groom’s Room which will also house The Cocktail Service – a great team of mixologists offering a range of tasty cocktails!

And if you’re looking with help on ways to style your venue, there will be a dedicated inspiration zone offering tablescape ideas with pricing and supplier details. Just Bespoke is designing a table for this area so if you do pop along, come over and say hi – we’d love to meet you!

It doesn’t end with the venue though, in the Boudoir you can get hair and make-up advice from The Hepburn Collection and Mariam Jensen and outfit help from the likes of Johanna Hehir and Victoria Millesime. It’s a great place to get pampered whilst nibbling on canapes and sipping champagne courtesy of Harbour & Jones.

And if that wasn’t enough, there will also be presentations from experts and the chance for one on one consultations with a UKAWP wedding planner.

So, if you want to find out more or would like to purchase tickets, head over to the dedicated UKAWP Wedding Sanctuary website where you will find all you need to know regarding the event.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Focus On: A Postcard From New York Event at Miss Bush {Part 1}

A couple of weeks ago we told you about an exciting event that we were part of at Miss Bush Bridal in Ripley, Surrey to celebrate the arrival of JLM Couture bridal wear to the popular boutique.

Our role was to manage and style the event – taking care of everything from inviting the media and bloggers, coordinating the amazing supplier dream team, and ensuring that we translated Emma’s vision of bringing a slice of New York to the streets of Surrey – no small task then!

The event has already been featured on Rock My Wedding but we thought we’d share with you an insight into our design process and what inspired the various spaces in the boutique…

We approached the event in exactly the same way that we approach a wedding…taking a vision and transforming it into a reality and as Emma had a very clear idea of what she wanted, this made our job a lot easier. She gave us the space to develop our ideas – trusting our decisions and allowing us to simply get on with the task in hand.

So…we knew that the event would be attended by brides keen to see the latest fashions from JLM Couture. However, we also had plenty of the industry’s finest, volunteering to provide their services to give guests inspiration and ideas for their wedding day, beyond their dress and accessories.

With this in mind, we decided to really maximise the space upstairs in the boutique and showcase two very distinct styles which represented two very different sides of New York. We wanted to be elegant and stylish, and edgy and contemporary…so we used the upmarket streets surrounding Fifth Avenue as our inspiration for one, and the fashionable and artistic area of Tribeca for the other…

This gave us a great starting point…the next job was to develop the spaces…

Focus On: Think Splendid Wedding Survey 2012

As a wedding planner, it is always good to have an understanding of how brides and grooms are planning their weddings – not only here in the UK but around the world. With this in mind, Liene Stevens from Splendid Communications in the States is conducting a worldwide wedding survey to better understand the decisions made by Brides and Grooms when it comes to their wedding day.

The survey looks at everything from what tools you use to plan your wedding and where you go to find inspiration, to what influences you when selecting suppliers and what budget you set aside for your wedding day.

The survey is open to anyone who got married in 2007 or later, or who is currently planning on tying the knot, so we would love for you to get involved and share your responses with us. The survey is totally anonymous but will help us to get a clearer understanding of how you plan your wedding so that we can provide services which reflect your decision-making and better answer your needs.

If you want to take part, please click here and we look forward to sharing the results with you in due course.

In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine and happy planning…!

Mid-Week Musings: Ideas. Inspiration. Interesting Finds.

With just two days to go until the ‘Postcard from New York’ event at Miss Bush Bridal, there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to get through our normal workload and keep up with all of the pretty that is on the web.

However, we’ve got our top three finds of wedding inspiration to feast your eyes upon for another week…so, without further ado…

I love the idea of bright tablescapes and these DIY polka dot napkins are a great way of adding colour to your place settings without costing a fortune. You can choose linens to complement your colour scheme and even change the colour of the spots. Why not have some fun in the process and invite your bridesmaids over for an afternoon of crafting before the big day as well…the more the merrier!

This wedding is the ultimate in dreamy. I love everything about it – from the simple grass floor and complementing olive and brown table linens, to the floral pops in pink, purple and blue, the romantic lighting and the natural trees. Love it…

Source | Belle the Magazine

I talk a lot about utilising ceilings to create a focal point, encouraging guests to look up and not just at what is directly in front of them. Whether it is gobo lighting, hanging decor or fancy florals. And this particular wedding does it so well. I love the ceiling florals combined with the beautiful centrepieces – it is simply stunning.

Have you seen anything on the web this week that has inspired an element of your own wedding day? What are your favourite sites for inspiration? I’d love to hear from you!
