Mid-week Musings : Ideas. Inspiration. Interesting Finds.

The lovely sunshine over the last week has got us in the mood for summer…crisp whites, peachy pastels and a few pops of colour thrown in for good measure!

With that in mind, this week’s mid-week musings focus on wedding inspiration in the form of the pale and delicate…from bouquets of flowers to sweet treats…

So, feast your eyes on our latest wedding day style and design finds from around the web…

I love the delicate look and feel of these dainty bud vases, overflowing with succulent florals, serving as a unique and pretty escort table. This is a really simple and eye-catching way to display guest names and table numbers and it is very cost-effective as well. The soft, pale pinks are so romantic and contrast well with the delicate bud vases.

Flowers are one of my favourite aspects of a wedding as I think they really add to the look and feel of the day. However, they don’t need to cost the earth as this home-made beautiful bouquet goes to show. The flowers are blooming and look and feel full of life.  And what’s more, the shades of pink, cream and green all complement each other perfectly.

This bright white asymmetrical cake is so delicate and beautiful. The pearl detailing around the base of each tier is stunning in itself and then the complete pearl tier gives it some additional luxe which is topped off with the beautiful white chocolate floral topper. This cake would work really well at a summer wedding to complement a soft pastel colour scheme – it could be a real focal point.

So, what do you think? Are you a fan of delicate and romantic pastels, or do you prefer a bolder and brighter colour scheme? We’d love to hear about your own wedding day and the style and design ideas which you have come up with so please do leave us a comment below.

Design Concepts: Mellow Yellow

1

Sun is shining…

1

Over the last couple of days, just as September hits, it really feels like we’re getting a second burst of Summer…and I for one am not complaining.

1

When the sun comes out, it seems to put everyone in a good mood, so hopefully this summer-inspired Mellow Yellow design board will make you smile…and give you some inspiration if you’re planning a Summer 2011 wedding.

If you are thinking of a yellow colour scheme for your wedding, experiment with accent colours as well.  A big trend this season has been vibrant shades of canary yellow teamed with black for a really striking theme. If this is too bold though, look at incorporating varying shades of yellow together, or even pairing with a light pink, grey or apple green.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Design Concept: Fun of the Circus

1

Roll up Roll up…

1

A couple of weeks ago I went to see Cirque du Soleil’s Saltimbanco at Wembley Arena and I was amazed by the show – it was jaw-droppingly surprising, full of excitement and the performers totally blew me away.

1

It got me thinking about how much fun a circus / carnival themed wedding could be, with bright colours, lots of entertainment and interesting touches.

1

A full-blown themed wedding, especially of this nature, doesn’t suit everyone, but you don’t need to go crazy. A few simple and subtle elements can give your wedding a fun party feel without going overboard, but if you do fancy doing more then there is lots of inspiration out there…

Here are some thoughts from me…hope you like them!
